Project Joy Internship

1241 Carpenter St. | Philadelphia, PA

Dear Prospective Intern!

Hi, my name is Jessica Joy London, but you can call me Joy! I have an MFA and have taught undergraduate art students during my 3 years in graduate school and have continued to mentor artists since 2013.

I created Project Joy Studio to help make art accessible to anyone who wants to unlock their creativity. Since 2012 I have been creating large scale installations and showing my work in museums and galleries. In 2017 I added workshops, creative kits, and installations in health care settings to my list of services.

Today, Project Joy Studio is a full service art studio that creates large hospital projects, creative workshops, YouTube and TikTok videos, products that make creativity accessible, and fine art that is exhibited in private and public collections.

We are embarking on some very big and exciting projects in 2022 and many of the pillars of our studio are picking up speed, and that is why we are looking for interns to join our team!

When I think about the ideal internship, I imagine a transparent learning environment where I can share genuine knowledge about how I have grown my business to get to a place where it supports itself. Deciding to do what you love in the creative field and making it a career is like walking into an overgrown wheat field. There are no prescribed paths that can guarantee a successful career, and that is scary. I hope your time with me in the studio gives you a realistic plan to forge your own path after you leave and even more importantly, a belief in your ability to follow through on your journey.

This internship is 10 - 20 hours per week, in my studio where I am very covid-conscious and expect everyone to wear high quality masks. It pays $15 per hour. I would love someone to start immediately, but am open to a later start for the right person.
