Date Night at Project Joy Studio
If the show Bachelor or Bachelorette knew about Project Joy Studio they would certainly make this an activity for a date night. I have been on a few dates in my day, so I know how hard it is to find something ‘different’ to do. Trust us, this is different…and bonus, you will come away with memorable and meaningful paintings to put on your empty walls!
What: Nature painting with museum exhibited artist! Hi, I’m Joy and I would love to share the process I invented to make the paintings I show in galleries and museums. In this workshop you will be making 5 paintings. (2) 5” x 7” each and (1) 24” x 24”. You will each have 6 colors, pipettes and lots of materials to experiment with. (Previously we used to do group date nights where couples made smaller paintings which is what most of the pictures on this page reflects. You can find pictures of the new painting sizes up at the top of the page)
Where: Are you looking for a hidden gem of an urban experience? Then come on over to my art studio located in an old manufacturing building filled with other amazing artists and small businesses. We are located in the 1241 Carpenter St. building and there is even a parking lot in back that is available after 6pm.
Time: Workshops are 2 hours long. This is just enough time to create 3 paintings at a very relaxed pace. There is lots of time for talking and joking around, which is the best part of any great date!
Please fill out the form below with the subject line Date Night and let us know your preferred dates, how many people you expect to attend (double dates anybody?) and any other questions you have.
Cost: This private one-of-a-kind art experience is $250 for 2 people.
Testimonials
This was so much more amazing than I ever expected it to be! I made the reservation for my boyfriend and I as an early birthday gift and we had such a perfect time! Jessica was beyond wonderful! The studio is inviting and calming and the practice is so thoughtful and therapeutic! I wouldn't have changed a single thing other than wanting more time! We were able to create so many wonderful pieces and we could have stayed all day! It was a truly unique, beautiful, insightful and lovely experience and I look forward to many more sessions, both for self discovery but also for colleagues and self-care. Thank you for the perfect morning Jessica, I'm so glad we met!

About my Process
I created this process which I call a colorful meditation process to help me with my own wellbeing and joy. The playful yet relaxing process of watching the puddles of color flow and move around on the paper pulls the participant out of the worrisome future and into the present to a place where they are free to explore without expectations. The process is grounding and at the same time lifts the worries of everyday life. I also do not use brushes in this process because I find that a brush introduces expectations of knowing what you want to create before you create it. I have spoken to so many people who have told me that they want to make art, but they just don't know what to make. My process alleviates that stress because it promotes playful experimentation that many haven't been able to do since they were a kid. I love doing these workshops as a large group because we will all be jumping into the unknown together. I have also done large pieces in my studio with 47 kids working on one giant piece and it is so wonderful to see what many can create together when they let go. Letting go is the key to creating successful outcomes, and I tell my participants that the more you let go, the more possibilities will present themselves to you and the better the painting will turn out! I also say, "if you can spill milk you can create a beautiful piece of art with Project Joy" to help everybody know that they can do this so nobody gives up before they start!
Project Joy Studio is here to provide you with an incredibly unique and colorful experience!

My boyfriend and I signed up for this in an effort to do something different on our weekend getaway. So glad we did this! Joy was great at explaining the process and allowing us the freedom to play and express our creativity. Can’t wait to see the final product 👍🏽 Due to the Nor’easter we ended up being the only ones there so it felt like a total VIP experience!
